British Columbia has extended the registration deadline for its Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative (TRHSI). Eligible workers now have more time to pursue a pathway to permanent residence. Registration will now remain open until 11:59 p.m. on October 7, 2026, instead of the previous August 31 deadline. The initiative aims to nominate up to 250 eligible workers employed by B.C. health authorities in qualifying rural or remote communities. It is open to eligible janitors, caretakers, heavy-duty cleaners, light-duty cleaners, and security guards.
Candidates must generally have a full-time job offer from an eligible B.C. health authority and at least nine months of qualifying full-time work experience gained with a B.C. health authority before registration. The province said the deadline extension was made to account for wildfire-related impacts. So far, 60 candidates have received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.
