Canada Issues New ITAs through PNP Express Entry Draw

The first Express Entry draw of May was conducted by Canada on May 11th, 2026. The draw targeted candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). 380 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence have been issued in the draw. To be eligible for the draw, candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 798 to qualify and to have created their Express Entry profile before 5:23 a.m. UTC on January 7, 2026.

PNP draws are conducted targeting candidates in the Express Entry pool who have secured a provincial nomination. A candidate with a provincial nomination gets an additional CRS score of 600 points added to their Express Entry profile. This highly increases their probability of getting invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

This draw is the tenth PNP-specific draw and the twenty-seventh Express Entry draw in 2026. So far in this year, candidates already in Canada, particularly those with provincial nominations, Canadian work experience, or French-language proficiency, have been given priority.

In 2026 so far, Canada has issued more than 72,000 ITAs through different types of Express Entry draws. The majority of the invitations have been sent through the Canadian Experience Class (34,250 invitations), followed by French-language proficiency (26,000 invitations) and the Provincial Nominee Program (4,116 invitations). The other draw types were in the categories Healthcare and Social Services, Trade, Physicians with Canadian Work Experience, and Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience.
