Saskatchewan Uses More Than Half of 2026 Provincial Immigration Quota

Saskatchewan has published in its latest update that the province has already used more than half of its provincial immigration allocation for 2026 under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). As of June 30, the province had issued 2,628 nominations, representing approximately 55% of its annual allocation of 4,761 nomination spaces. This leaves 2,133 nomination spaces available for the rest of the year.

The three sector categories through which the province has distributed its nomination spaces for 2026 are priority sectors (2,380 nomination spaces), capped sectors (1,190 nomination spaces), and other sectors (1,191 nomination spaces). As of June, in the priority sectors, 1,466 nominations have been issued. The province identified priority sectors in 2026 are healthcare, agriculture, skilled trades, mining, manufacturing, energy, and technology. For 2026 the capped sectors include accommodation and food services, retail trade and other services, and trucking, and in capped sectors 718 nominations have been issued as of June. 444 nominations have been issued to applicants in other sectors (sectors that are neither classified as priority nor capped sectors).

The province has reserved 750 nomination spaces within its priority-sector allocation for graduates of Saskatchewan-based designated learning institutions who are employed in priority occupations. The province notes that the share of nomination spaces in priority sectors could increase if labour market demand remains high, reducing the allocation available to other sectors.

As more than half of the province's nomination spaces have been filled by the end of June, competition for the remaining spots is expected to increase during the second half of the year.
