Canada has introduced a temporary measure to help up to 2,700 foreign workers in Manitoba who have lost or are at risk of losing their work authorization while they are being considered for provincial nomination. Eligible Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program candidates can apply for open work permits under the Manitoba Workforce Transition Bridge (MWTB) public policy.
Applicants generally need a Manitoba support letter issued by December 31, 2025, confirming they were screened and placed in the Expression of Interest pool by that date. The measure covers workers with valid or certain expired permits, as well as those with maintained status. Eligible applicants may also receive restoration of status in certain circumstances. The policy took effect July 6, 2026, and is scheduled to remain in place until December 31, 2027.
