Ontario Targets Workers in Mining Sector in First OINP Draws of April 2026

On 1st April 2026 Ontario held the first draw of the month under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The draws were conducted across the Employer Job Offer streams, including Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills and a total of 759 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued.

The most number of invitations were sent by the Foreign Worker stream, 372 invitations with a minimum score of 56. It was followed by the International Student stream that issued 355 invitations with a minimum score of 85, and the In-Demand Skills stream that issued 32 invitations with a minimum score of 34.

The draws were targeted draws where candidates meeting the specific eligibility criteria were invited. The invitations were targeted at candidates who were working in mining-related occupations. The draws reflects Ontario’s immigration strategy in 2026, which focuses on employer-driven and region-specific selections over large, generalized draws.
