Canada Invites 5,000 French-Speaking Candidates for Permanent Residence

Canada has issued 5,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence to candidates with French-language proficiency through the latest Express Entry draw held on August 19, 2026. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 382 to receive an invitation.

The draw also recorded the lowest CRS cut-off for a French-language proficiency round since March 2025, falling nine points from the previous French-language draw on August 6, which had a cut-off of 391. Candidates had to create their Express Entry profile before 6:34 p.m UTC on March 1, 2026, under the tie-breaking rule.

This was the 10th French-language Express Entry draw of 2026, bringing the total number of invitations issued through this category this year to 50,500.

To qualify for the French-language category candidates must have at least NCLC 7 in all four French-language abilities. Canada continues to use this category to support Francophone immigration and strengthen French-speaking communities outside Quebec.
