The Northwest Territories (NWT) has received additional provincial nomination spaces from the federal government for 2026. The 103 additional spaces have increased the territory’s total allocation from 197 to 300 nominations. It will create more opportunities for eligible foreign workers seeking permanent residence in Canada. The increased allocation comes in response to the territory’s labour-market needs and ongoing demand for skilled workers. The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) has also introduced an additional selection round in August. This brings the total number of selection rounds to 4 planned for 2026.
The Employer-Driven Stream operates through an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. In the stream, candidates are ranked based on several factors such as skills and experience, connections to the territory, and their ability to establish in the NWT. The additional nomination spaces provide the immigrants another opportunity to pursue Canadian permanent residence, especially for candidates with eligible employment and strong ties to the Northwest Territories.
