Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker LMIA Processing Times Updated

Canada’s Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) processing times increased across most streams of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) in July 2026, according to the update from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The high-wage stream recorded the largest increase, rising from 79 days in June to 88 days in July. The low-wage stream increased from 71 to 73 days, while the Global Talent Stream rose slightly to 10 days. Further, agricultural processing times also increased to 23 days.

The processing times for the permanent resident stream dropped from 99 days to 86 days. The Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program also saw a slight decrease with processing times falling to eight days. Employers should note that these processing times do not include the mandatory advertising period required before submitting an LMIA application.
