University of Waterloo Among World’s Top 10 Leading Universities for Entrepreneurship

The University of Waterloo has earned a place among the world’s top 10 universities for entrepreneurship. This marks the first time a Canadian institution has secured a spot in the global top 10, according to a report by PitchBook, an independent venture capital research firm. Waterloo ranked seventh globally, making it the highest-ranked university outside the United States and one of only two non-U.S. institutions to make the top 10.

The rankings are based on the number of undergraduate alumni who have gone on to found companies that received venture capital funding. Waterloo recorded 1,303 founders, climbing 11 places from its 18th position in the previous year’s undergraduate rankings.

The achievement highlights Waterloo’s strong reputation for innovation and entrepreneurship and reinforces Canada’s presence in the global startup and higher education landscape. Eight Canadian universities also were among the global top 100, including the University of Toronto, McGill University, Western University, the University of British Columbia, Queen’s University, the University of Calgary, and York University.
