Newfoundland and Labrador has received federal approval to increase its 2026 Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) allocation by 1,000 spaces, bringing the province’s NLPNP quota to 2,379. The increase is aimed at helping address labour and demographic needs, particularly in rural communities and sectors such as healthcare, education and social services.
The province’s combined allocation under the NLPNP and Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) now stands at 2,854 spaces, compared with 2,525 in 2025. The AIP allocation remains unchanged at 475. As of September 10, Newfoundland and Labrador had invited 2,198 NLPNP candidates and 394 AIP candidates during 2026. For prospective immigrants, the additional NLPNP spaces create more nomination capacity, although applicants must still meet program requirements and receive an invitation from the province.
