British Columbia has received 1,000 additional provincial nomination spaces for 2026. This brings the total allocation of the province to 6,254 nominations. The additional nominations will give priority to foreign workers in healthcare, education, childcare, veterinary care, construction trades, and high-earning or high-scoring occupations.
The nominations will be distributed according to the province’s Care, Build, and Innovate priorities. Under the Care initiative, British Columbia is prioritizing 36 in-demand occupations across healthcare, education, childcare, and veterinary care. These include registered nurses, doctors, pharmacists, medical laboratory technologists, early childhood educators, social workers, and veterinarians.
The Build initiative focuses on nine priority construction trades, including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, industrial electricians, and heavy-duty equipment mechanics. Eligible candidates must generally have at least two years of full-time-equivalent work experience.
The Innovate initiative prioritizes high-earning and/or high-scoring skilled workers and entrepreneurs across sectors.
British Columbia plans to use its full 6,254 nomination allocation by December 31, 2026, with at least 35% of nominations expected to go to candidates working in communities outside Metro Vancouver.
